(Columbiana, AL) On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at approximately 6:15 PM, Shelby County 911 received a report of a person suffering from a gunshot wound in the 400 block of Alexander Road, located in unincorporated Shelby County near the City of Leeds. Deputies and medical personnel responded and attempted to provide lifesaving measures, but their efforts were unsuccessful. The victim was identified as 16 year old Cameron Paul Daffron from Leeds, Alabama.
Investigators from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division responded and immediately began to follow up on leads in the case. Within 24 hours of the shooting, investigators had detained two juveniles in connection with the murder investigation.
On Friday, September 2, 2022, Shelby County Sheriff’s Investigators signed warrants formally charging two juvenile males with one count of Murder and one count of Attempted Murder, each. Due to current Alabama laws relating to juveniles charged as adults, identifying suspect/offender information cannot be released by law enforcement. Both juvenile males from outside Shelby County are currently being held in the Shelby County Jail, each on a $280,000 total bond.
