Flooding Hazards

On February 10th, 2020 at approximately 2:00PM, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office was notified of dangerous water over the roadway on Alabama Highway 119 (Cahaba Valley Road) at the intersections of Broken Bow Drive and Indian Ridge Drive. The road was determined to be impassable at both locations.

The intersection of Cahaba Valley Road and Broken Bow Drive is now partially opened, with deputies directing traffic through one lane.

Use caution today and over the next few days as more rainfall is forecasted. Always follow the directions of first responders at the scene if you encounter a flooded area or closed roadway. Keep in mind that flooded roadways may be more difficult to see at night, and not all flooded roadways may be reported or clearly marked as closed.

Other cities in the area are also reporting flooding at multiple locations in their jurisdictions. Monitor news and social media sites for the most up to date information on road conditions.
