Sixth Arrest made in Sonesta Extended Stay Suites Homicide Investigation

On October 20th, 2019, at approximately 1:46 AM, Shelby County 911 received a call about a noise complaint at the Sonesta Extended Stay Suites at 3 Greenhill Parkway, in the Highway 280 corridor of Northern Shelby County. Deputies responded to the area to investigate and located 17-year-old Stanley M. Turner II, deceased in the parking lot in his vehicle from an apparent gunshot wound. Investigators from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and began their investigation into the death. Sheriff’s Office Investigators with the assistance of other agencies have spent countless hours working this case with the goal of holding all the individuals involved accountable for this unnecessary death. Through their diligent investigation the death has been determined to be a homicide during the commission of a robbery.

The investigation has led to the arrests of the following individuals:

Rodriquez T. Allen, 20 years of age from McCalla, was arrested on November 29, 2019 and has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree.  He is being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000.  

Jamicah J. Jordan, 17 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree as an adult, and is being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000. 

Jakobi C. Witherspoon, 18 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree, and is being held at the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $1,300,000.

Aja Kylandrea Brenee Whitt, 17 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree as an adult.  She was arrested and subsequently released from the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000.

Jamaal Antowain Phillips, 17 years of age from Pleasant Grove, has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree as an adult. He was arrested and subsequently released from the Shelby County Jail on bonds totaling $500,000.

A male juvenile has been charged with Murder and Robbery 1st Degree, and is being held in the Shelby County Youth Detention Center.

This is still an ongoing homicide investigation. The Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with more information about the circumstances leading to Stanley M. Your identity will remain anonymous and a reward is possible for information leading to additional arrests and convictions in this case.
