On October 30, 2019, at approximately 3:30 PM, the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office began receiving information through multiple sources about a possible threat to Chelsea Middle School. The school resource officer, investigators, patrol deputies, and other school officials immediately began to investigate the situation. Sheriff’s Office personnel worked to locate and interview all parties allegedly involved in the matter. The investigation has revealed there was no credible threat to the school or students.
The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office will have additional deputies at the school tomorrow only as a precautionary measure for the safety of the students and faculty.
Sheriff John Samaniego stated “We are committed to our partnership with the Shelby County Board of Education to provide a safe and secure learning environment for all students and school personnel, and we are thankful for those that came forward with information when they had a concern.”
