The fee for a pistol permit is $20 per year. A pistol permit may be purchased for more than one year but not more than five years at a cost of $20 for each year purchased. As an example, a five year pistol permit would cost $100.
Payment for a permit issued by Shelby County Sheriff's Office must be made directly to this office. Payment made online to any other business, such as the National Carry Association, is not valid.
Pistol Permit renewals which are mailed in will be processed within two business days of receipt and not on the expiration date. For example, if your pistol permit expires on September 1, 2019 and we receive and process on August 15, 2019, the new expiration date will be August 15, 2020 (assuming you purchased a one-year permit). The same applies to renewals that are brought in-person to the Sheriff's Office. They will be renewed on the date you come in, not on the expiration date.
