| The
Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force officially began
operations in January of 2004. Prior to that, local law enforcement
agencies within Shelby County responded individually to the
threat of illegal narcotics, within their individual jurisdictions.
Law enforcement leaders within Shelby County wanted to take
a more proactive approach toward the illegal drug problem
and together formed the Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task
Force (Task Force). This cooperative effort is designed to
take a county-wide approach to the narcotics problems within
Shelby County.
