| The Criminal
Investigations Division is responsible for investigating criminal
activity within Shelby County by utilizing modern techniques.
This unit is divided into two general categories: crimes against
persons and crimes against property. Crimes against persons
would include crimes such as homicide, assault, rape, robbery,
child abuse, and sexual assaults. Crimes against property would
include crimes such as burglary, theft, vehicle theft, arson,
fraud, identity theft, and computer crimes. The Criminal Investigations
Division is also responsible for compliance with the Alabama
Community Notification legislation concerning convicted sex
offenders.
The hours
of operation for both the Criminal Investigations Division
and the Records Unit are Monday through Friday from 8:00 am
until 4:30 pm, excluding holidays.
